Most customers want to clone their current drive onto a new SSD. Acronis software ships with this SSD, is compatible with Windows 10. For Windows 7 and 8 we recommend Macrium Reflectfree. For Apple Mac users we recommend Carbon Copy Cloner (14 day free trial) or SuperDuper!
If you have a desktop that allows you to install two drives, you can clone internally. For everyone else, you will need an external case or an external cable, commonly called a clone cable. This is a must have accessory to make a clone go butter smooth.
The procedure for a PC is: use clone cable to attach new SSD to PC via USB port. Install Acronis, clone from old drive to new drive. When finished install the SSD and reboot.
The procedure for a Mac is: use clone cable to attach new SSD to PC via USB port. Install CCC or SuperDuper! and clone from old drive to new drive. When finished install the SSD and reboot.
