Crucial P3 Plus 500GB PCIe 4.0 x4, NVMe M.2 2280 Internal SSD
Are you cloning your old drive? Or starting with a new copy of Windows?
Cloning
Most customers want to clone their current drive onto a new SSD. Acronis software ships with this SSD, is compatible with Windows 10 and 11. Our recommended cloning software is Macrium X. It is a little harder to use, it is only a 14 day trial, but it is very powerful and has a lot of options.
If you have a desktop that allows you to install two drives, you can clone internally. For everyone else, you will need an external case, The Ramcity cloning case is perfect for the job. Install the SSD into the case, download the software, clone and then replace your current SSD. It really is that easy, and if it is not, please give us a call.
Reinstalling Windows
There are a lot of ways to install Windows, this is our preferred method. You will need a USB Flash drive, and the Microsoft Media Creation tool. I am not going to link to the tool, the URL keeps changing but to find the latest version Google "Microsoft Media Creation Tool" and follow the Microsoft instructions. If you have an authorized Windows license on your computer, you are allowed to download Windows and re install the software. You will need a 25 character Windows license key but many computers have the key embedded into the firmware. If you skip the "enter license key" and continue to install, Windows detects the key in your firmware.
Media Creation tool is an exe program that will create a bootable Windows installation USB. To us the USB, shut down your computer, plug in the USB and then go into the BIOS. Got to the Boot sequence/order and make sure USB is first. Save and continue. The computer should now boot off the USB and you can install a new copy Windows.
If you order the external SSD case, you can install the old SSD into the case and drag over your old documents
The P3 Plus is our best value SSD. It is Gen 4 but backwards compatible to Gen 3.
The speed you are getting is amazing for the price. Most systems, especially Gen 3 are limited in bandwidth, so buying a super fast Gen 5 SSD is a waste when your computer is down clocking the speed. The P3 Plus solves that issue, it is not entry level, you are getting maximum speed but you still get the nice 5 year warranty.
